16 X 20 Framed Acrylic Original Art - The Glendale School of Sparks, Nevada, is the oldest remaining schoolhouse in the state and is also reported to be the longest operating school in the state. It was built in 1864 and served as a school until 1958. As a child growing up in Sparks the Glendale school was a special place. We had field trips there several times and we were amazed as kids to think what it would be like to attend school here. It was originally located about 3 miles south of downtown sparks in the farming area know as Glendale. The school was close to the Truckee river with beautiful cottonwood trees behind it. As Sparks grew the city took over the area an the school was moved to downtown Sparks in 1978.
